The Philatelic Society of Australia was first mentioned in journals in 18**. It went into recess about 1900, and it has held continuous meetings since 1911.

We offer the following services to our members, Information, interesting displays, auctions at each meeting, competitions, Christmas luncheon and the only daytime (week day) meeting in Sydney.

Library - We donated our library to Philatelic Association of NSW (PHILAS) and our members may borrow from this extensive library.

Membership about 50 with attendance at each meeting being around 20.

Tea or coffee with a biscuit provided. You may bring a sandwich and stay for lunch.Centenary

Members of the PSA were recently interviewed by George & Phil Stephenson of Radio 2RDJ-FM for this station’s weekly Kaleidoscope Program. Topics discussed included a brief account of the Society’s 100-year history followed by a discussion of current trends in philately.
This interview may be heard on 2RDJ-FM (88.1 FM) on Sunday 19 June & repeated on Tuesday 21 June at 9.05 am.

Limited Edition Souvenir

As part of the Society’s celebrations it will produce a limited edition souvenir consisting of a gold overprint on an Australia Post mini-sheet planned for release in June 2011.
The Society will also publish a book on its history, written by Richard Peck, that will be available in both spiral-bound and hard-bound copies and as a CD. The number of copies will be strictly limited.

Closing date for orders of the mini-sheet is 30th June 2011 & for the history 28th February 2011

How to get there

Philas House is near the southern end of Hyde Park, William Square, and Museum Station.
Public Transport - by rail to Museum Station and/ or bus to the first stop in Oxford Street from Central Station and Circular Quay.
By Car- Brisbane Street is one-way from Oxford Street to Goulburn Street. Limited street parking is available, or the Goulburn Street Public car park is only two blocks away.
